2023 Volunteer Caregiver Days
+ Vegan Potlucks!

Join us for a volunteer caregiver day and vegan potluck at the sanctuary! It takes a village to care for 35 residents, so your help is greatly appreciated! Signing up for multiple days and carpooling with a friend is strongly encouraged!

If you participate in the vegan potluck, please bring a recipe card to share with others and note any allergens. In addition, FOTF will provide reusable plates, bowls, cups, and utensils. Thank you!

Sanctuary Rules

We love to have your volunteer help! But, first, we need to make sure that you are aware of a few things about this sanctuary and give you some information to prepare you for volunteering:

  1. First and foremost, this is a home for our residents. As their caregivers, their comfort, safety, and well-being are our number one priority.

  2. You must sign age-appropriate waivers when you arrive.

  3. No one is guaranteed any interactions with the residents. The sanctuary is not a petting zoo.

  4. If residents aren’t interested, we don’t obligate them to do anything they don’t feel comfortable with unless it’s for their primary care/needs.

  5. If they walk away from you, please do not pursue them. We are in the residents’ homes, respecting their body language.

Recommended supplies

  • Snacks. Please, no animal products on the premises out of respect for our residents. Let us know if you have any questions about veganism. Please do not bring food of any kind into the animal enclosures for their safety and yours.

  • Bring a water bottle.

  • Wear/bring sunblock just in case.

  • Wear/bring bug spray just in case.

  • Wear clothing you don’t mind messing up, preferably pants, closed-toed shoes, preferably boots.
