Tours & Volunteering
At Farm of the Free, we rely on an incredible community of volunteers who show up for the animals rain or shine, weekday or weekend. If you're looking to get involved, there are two main ways to volunteer with us:
🌙 Weekly Evening Volunteering
Our core team of weekly volunteers helps give dinner and tuck the animals in at sunset. These evening shifts take less than three hours and make a big difference in keeping our residents safe, fed, and cozy for the night. It's a rewarding way to build a deeper connection with the animals.
We're actively growing this dedicated crew. If consistency is your thing and you're looking to be part of a close-knit team, we'd love to hear from you. Send us an email: info@farmofthefree.org.
🌱Monthly Volunteering + Vegan Potluck
At Farm of the Free, we rely on our community to help care for our rescued animal residents. One Saturday each month, volunteers are invited to join us for a hands-on volunteer day at the sanctuary.
Whether you’re a seasoned volunteer or brand new to sanctuaries, there’s a place for you here.

What to Expect
Volunteers help with caregiving tasks, sanctuary projects, and other hands-on work that supports our rescued animal residents.
After volunteering, we’ll share a vegan potluck during the final hour. Please bring a vegan dish to share, along with a recipe card if possible. Label any common allergens so everyone can safely enjoy the meal.
Time & Location
-
Time: 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM
-
Potluck: During the final hour
-
Location: 1701 Launius Rd, Good Hope, GA 30641
Carpooling
Need a ride or willing to drive others? We’ve created a carpool sign-up for anyone interested.
Whether you’re coming from Atlanta, Athens, or somewhere else in Georgia, carpooling is a great way to meet others nearby and reduce your environmental impact.
If you’re willing to drive, please add your car to the list and include where you’re leaving from and what time you plan to leave.
If you need a ride, look for a car leaving from a location that works for you. We recommend meeting in public spaces when carpooling.
Sanctuary Rules
As caregivers, your respect for our residents is essential.
This is not a petting zoo. Interactions happen on the residents’ terms.
If a resident walks away, please respect their space.
Please do not bring food into animal enclosures.
What to Bring
Bring a refillable water bottle, sunblock, bug spray, comfortable clothes you don’t mind getting dirty, and closed-toed shoes. Boots are preferred.
Parking
Drive through the two gates and park inside the sanctuary. Please do not park on the roadside grass.
Tours & Volunteering
Private Tours
Two-hour private tours are available by appointment. To secure your spot and support our team, we kindly request a $50 donation. If this poses a challenge, please let us know in your email.
To schedule a tour, please email us at info@farmofthefree.org
Please note, we cannot guarantee interactions with our residents as the sanctuary is their home and we want to respect their boundaries. Treats will not be given during tours because everyone is on a strict diet.
All tours consist of:
-
A completed visitor waiver (can be completed online here)
-
A guided walk-through of the sanctuary
-
Opportunities to see all our residents
-
A visit to our giftshop
