🔧 Building a Better Sanctuary, Together

IMG_3885_edited.jpg

At Farm of the Free Animal Sanctuary, we’re creating a safe, enriching, and sustainable home for every resident. These eight capital improvement projects strengthen daily operations, improve animal comfort, and make the sanctuary more welcoming for visitors.

Each project has a fundraising goal and a materials wish list, so whether you’d like to sponsor a bag of concrete, a set of shade sails, or an engraved brick, your support helps us continue building a space where every being feels safe to be exactly who they are.

It takes a passionate community to run a nonprofit animal sanctuary.

☀️ Sun Shades — $2,568

Give our residents a break from the Georgia heat.
Eight new shade structures will keep our cows and pigs safe, cool, and comfortable during the hottest months. In 2024, Waylon overheated and needed emergency care. This project ensures that never happens again.

Why It Matters

By adding shade sails in high-traffic pastures, we’ll reduce heat stress, prevent sunburn, and give animals more comfortable places to rest. The cows will gain an extra shaded loafing area near the front pasture, and our pigs will have consistent cover for protection from direct sun.

Impact: Comfort and safety for every resident in our hottest pastures.

Estimated Cost:
Materials – $2,328
Contingency – $240
Total – $2,568

Materials Wish List

If you’d like to donate supplies instead of funds, here’s what we need most:

  • 8 rectangular or triangular shade sails (UV-resistant, neutral colors)

  • 24 10-ft steel or galvanized pipes

  • 32 turnbuckles and 32 hook fittings for tensioning

  • 24 pipe floor flanges and caps

  • 24 bags fast-setting concrete mix

  • Heavy-duty bolts and washers for hardware connections

🪵 Fence Upgrade — $1,786

Estimated Cost:
Materials – $1,626
