Reina, whose name translates to “Queen” in Spanish, reigns peacefully alongside her sister, Serenity, here at FOTF. They arrived as part of a large rescue in June of 2020, transferred from H is for Hope Chicken Sanctuary. What made this rescue even more special was that they came with their beloved mother, Cherry Pie, who passed away in July 2024 after battling esophageal cancer.

Before being rescued, they were discovered at a dog shelter, where several of their siblings tragically died after slipping through a chain-link fence. Only Reina, Serenity, and their mother survived.
Reina was lovingly named by former Board Member, Josh W.
If you get close enough, you might notice that the comb atop her head is shaped just like a little red crown, fitting for a queen! She even has her very own bodyguard, Dave, the devoted rooster of the flock. While Reina is shy, she becomes fiercely protective when she senses a threat. Every now and then, you might be lucky enough to witness her play with Serenity, a heartwarming sight.
Reina loves basking in the sun, taking dust baths, exploring her surroundings, and indulging in delicious snacks. Something important to note is that from the very beginning, she and her sister Serenity have shared an unbreakable bond, quiet, steady, and enduring. What sets their journey apart even more is that they once lived with their late mother, Cherry Pie. In a world where most animals are torn from the ones they love far too soon, their story is an extraordinary exception, a glimpse into what family is meant to be. These moments don’t just appear by chance. In a sanctuary setting, they are carefully nurtured, fiercely safeguarded, and deeply honored. Because animals, like all of us, deserve more than existence, they deserve respect, protection, and a sense of belonging.
We are profoundly thankful that she had the rare gift of spending so much time with her mother, and that she continues to live safely and freely with her sister and Dave, all made possible by the kindness of our generous supporters.
