Serenity came to FOTF in June 2020 as part of a large rescue transfer from H is for Hope Chicken Sanctuary. She lives with her sister, Reina, and her rooster friend, Dave. What makes their rescue especially moving is that they arrived alongside their mother, Cherry Pie, whom we sadly lost in July 2024 to esophageal cancer. Prior to reaching the sanctuary, they had been found at a dog shelter, where several of their siblings tragically slipped through a chain-link fence and were killed by dogs. Serenity and Reina, along with their mother, were the only survivors.
Serenity was named by our former Board President, Jadia B.
She’s calm, brave, but also feisty, and curious. Occasionally, you might catch her playing with her sister, a rare and beautiful sight. She delights in sunbathing, dust bathing, foraging, and enjoying her favorite snacks. It’s so important to note that there is a quiet grace in the way she and her sister, Reina, have walked through life side by side since the day they were born. Even more extraordinary is the time they spent cradled in the warmth of their late mother, Cherry Pie.
In a world where animals are so often denied even the simplest joys, like staying with their families, their story is a rare testament to love uninterrupted. In a sanctuary setting. These moments don’t just happen, they are fought for, protected, and held sacred here. Every creature deserves not just to survive, but to belong, be respected, and be protected.
We are deeply grateful she was able to live with her mother for as long as possible, and that she will continue to enjoy safety and freedom alongside her sister and Dave, thanks to the unwavering support of our donors.
