Dave

Updated: Mar 24

Dave is one of six chicken siblings who came to live at FOTF as chicks with their late mother, Cluckie, in June of 2017. They were found roaming the area and property with no secure coop or enclosure to protect them from predators like raccoons, foxes, and coyotes.

Dave is a beautiful and gentle soul, named by one of our supporters, Tyler M., in honor of his late father, an animal lover and humanitarian.

Dave currently resides with Serenity and her sister Reina, and he voluntarily watches over them with great care. He’ll call them over when he discovers a tasty treat and alert them if he senses danger nearby. Due to his age, Dave has developed arthritis, but he makes it incredibly easy for us to care for him during treatment. Curious and friendly with humans, he enjoys taking dust baths, foraging while acting as his flock’s personal bodyguard, roosting in front of the fan, and basking in the sun. He’s such a sweet companion!

Thanks to our supporters, we feel incredibly fortunate to be able to provide Dave and his flock mates with a safe place to live out their lives, free from harm and exploitation.
